The fourth annual memorial event honoring the fallen heroes from the Vietnam War will be held from 5 to 8:30 p.m. April 30 at the War Memorial pavilion, outside the gym in Wailuku.
The guest speaker will be Allen Hoe, an Oahu attorney and a Vietnam veteran who served as a combat paramedic. His son, Nainoa K. Hoe, served as a first lieutenant infantry officer with the Army’s 3rd Battalion in Mosul, Iraq. He died there Jan. 22, 2005. He was 27.
Janna Hoehn, the Maui woman who found all the photos of Maui County’s fallen in the Vietnam War, will read the names of the deceased. Family members and friends of the fallen will place a candle for their loved ones.
Hoehn also has created a new photo display.
There will be prayers by different denominations as well as posting of the colors and a 21-gun salute.
